Third day already, and it starts with an interview to Sarah Cosulich from TG3 national TV. Main topics are Artissima’s contents, but not only that: with her usual calm energy sarah also talks about Art market and the criteria collectors use for their choices.
The peace of the apartment has welcomed gallerist Isabella Bortolozzi (http://bortolozzi.com/), in search for a quiet moment and quick lunch away from the crowd. Isabella has been awarded twice yesterday for the artists she represents. One is the Reda prize for photography, assigned to artists that ivnestigate the photographic language in unedited and unusual ways; and the Ettore Fico foundation Prize that promotes the work of young artists. Isabella has also commented a bit about design: we were wondering whether she finds space for that in her Gallery and whether she thinks that’s a positive and generative connection between design and art…well, we knew the answer already, as she works with Andrea Branzi: artist, designer or what else? Ontop of this, she comments, art is often an object: an artist always “produces” something, how is it possible to separate these two forms?
Our lunch finally takes place around the Community Table in the Vip lounge below us, always crowded with people. And some of them suggest us to go see the Third Line-Dubai booth (http://www.thethirdline.com/), that presents the elegant creations of the iranian artist Hayv Kaharman, who uses in her pictorial tale decorative elements derived from iraqu architecture, with heavy symbolic meanings. It was well worth leaving the Temporary Apartment to go visit this installation, as the language of design and architecture always attracts us.
End of the day for us, but not for those involved more deeply in Artissima: as we write, the jury of Per4M section cured by Simone Menegoi is working in an easy and relaxed atmosphere, helped by an aperitivo that eases the choice of the best performance of this Artissima Edition. not an easy choice we believe: from here all the applauses of the spectators could be heard!
