The film “Five Branded Women” was an Italo-American co-production starring Silvana Mangano and Jeanne Moreau. Five Yugoslavian women accused of consorting with Nazi officers have their hair cut off by partisans, while the German in question is emasculated. Due to the harsh character of the tale and the scandal caused by these scenes, in a number of states the film was censored or banned for viewers below 15 or 16 years of age. In this case, the premiere was for women only, and the male reporter sent by Publifoto had to dress up as a woman to gain entry to the projection room but he was arrested beforehand.
